"I have come to light the lamp of love in your hearts, to see that it shines day by day with added luster" ...Bhagawan Sri Sathya Sai Baba

‘Asatoma Sadgamaya, Tamasoma Jyotirgamaya’, as an answer to our prayers, Sri Sathya Sai Baba has come to this world to lead us from unreal to real, darkness to light and awaken the latent divinity within us. He is Jagat Guru (world teacher), a spiritual leader whose mission inspires people all over the world to look beyond materialistic world to find a purpose of their existence on earth.

At a tender age of 14, Sri Sathya Sai Baba publicly declared His mission. He has set an example for all his followers by practicing values such as truth, right conduct, peace, love, and nonviolence. Baba attracts thousands of devotees who come to Puttaparthi, where He has built his ashram, Prasanthi Nilayam, ‘the abode of supreme peace’.

Bhagawan Himself proclaimed to the world about His mission on earth, "I have come to light the lamp of love in your hearts, to see that it shines day by day with added lustre. I have not come on any mission of publicity for any sect or creed or cause; nor have I come to collect followers for any doctrine. I have come to tell you of this universal unitary faith, this path of Love. Believe that all hearts are motivated by the One and Only God, that all names in all languages, and all forms man can conceive, denote the one and only God. Cultivate the attitude of oneness between people of all creeds, all countries, and all continents. This is the message of Love I bring."

Has Bhagawan incarnated to start a new religion? He dispelled such queries thus-"There is only one God, and He is omnipresent. Do not hate other religions. A Hindu should become a better Hindu, a Christian a better Christian, and a Muslim a better Muslim.”

A. Educare:
Character is the most precious gift of education’. said Bhagawan. He has established a model education system, which includes primary schools, secondary schools, and an accredited university with four campuses (Prasanthi Nilayam, Whitefield, Anantapur and Muddenahalli) offering Undergraduate, Masters, and Ph.D. degrees. No fees are charged to students, and admission is open to all, regardless of race, religion, or economic condition. In addition to emphasizing the pursuit of academic excellence, Baba's system of "Integral Education" is designed to foster self-discipline and pro-social conduct. Students are required to take courses on morality and spirituality and to devote several hours each week to some form of community service. Baba always emphasized, 'The end of education is character'.

Swami's mission continues with the establishment of new schools in the rural heartland of Karnataka under Sri Sathya Sai Saraswathi Education Trust in collaboration with Prasanthi Balamandira Trust. Already 6 new campuses have been established in remote parts of Karnataka. Even a teachers training institute under the banner of Sri Sathya Sai Centre for Human Excellence has been started to offer degree courses in Science and Arts along with a Bachelor's degree in Education program.  In June 2015, another residential campus for boys will be started in Bijapur District and another one in Bagalkot District.

B. Medicare:
In 1991, Sri Sathya Sai Baba built an ultra-modern 300-bed hospital in Puttaparthi, which performs open-heart operations, totally free of charge. Another super specialty hospital started operating in 2001. These ‘temples of healing’ are run by dedicated doctors, nurses and staff who nurture the patients with utmost love and care.

In continuation of His mission of providing High Quality Specialty care absolutely free of cost, a 200-bed Pediatric Cardiac Care Centre, Sri Sathya Sai Sanjeevani Hospital, perhaps the only one of its kind dedicated exclusively to children’s heart care in the entire nation, has been established in Naya Raipur, Chattisgarh in November 2012. Already more than 650 surgeries and 4000 cardiac outpatient consultations have been conducted at the hospital since inception, absolutely free of cost.

Divine Child Health Program (DCHP), a rural child health screening and early intervention program was launched by the Hospital in July 2013. The program has been implemented based on the guidelines of Rashtriya Bal Swasthya Karyakram initiative of the Ministry of Health & Family Welfare, Government of India. The program aims to contribute to the health of children through timely detection, prevention, education and medical management. Under this program, 3275 rural school children in the age group of 6-16 years and 301 Anganwadi children in the age group of 0-6 years have been holistically screened so far (www.srisathyasaisanjeevani.org).
